All I Want for Christmas is my "One" front tooth...

Christmas at the Atwell house was quite interesting this year. Mom and Dad came to pick Zoie and I up on Thursday... it had started snowing something horrible and the blizzard was making its way across Oklahoma. By noon on Thursday, the roads were so bad and the snow was blowing so fierce that cars were being abandoned on the roads. I live 2.5 miles from my parents, and it took us over an hour to get home. Dad had to stop in the middle of the road to scrape the windows. Cars were wrecked all around, and were sideways and backwards everywhere. Luckily we made it home safely, but had difficulty even getting in the driveway! The neighbor and his son had to push us up into the drive. We were happy to be home out of the bitter cold.

We were supposed to spend Christmas Eve with my grandparents, but with the roads so bad, we decided it would be best to just stay put. Even our Christmas Eve service was cancelled.

On Christmas Day, we typically wake up at my parents' house and open presents. My sister and her boyfriend were supposed to come over, and Stephen was as well. However, with the roads so bad, no one made it on time. Stephen was snowed in. Brittany and Josh had a hard time getting there, making it closer to lunch time before they arrived. This year, Santa must have known that Zoie would be staying there though. She opened her presents from Santa and Mimi and Papaw. (Mommy left hers at home so we could open them as a family with Stephen). We opened the rest when Brittany and Josh arrived.

Papaw and Grandma and Tracie decided to brave the roads and come over. We told them if they were bad to not come, but they were determined to see their great grandbaby. They came over and we opened a few presents with them, and then we had lunch. After that, we decided to play the Wii that mom gave Dad for Christmas. It was so fun watching Grandma, Papaw and Tracie play! We had a great time.

That night, after Papaw, Grandma and Tracie left, we watched our traditional Christmas movie. This year, mom bought Four Christmases. While it was cute and funny, it was NOT kid friendly. It had a lot of cursing in it, and some inappropriate conduct. But other than that, it was a decent movie.

It was getting late, and the roads were probably slick. Brittany and Josh decided to head on back to their house. While they were taking their gifts out to the truck, Brittany was carrying her lamp that she got from Tracie. She slipped on the ice and when she did, the lamp base hit the ground and came back up, popping her in the face. It broke her front tooth clear off. We spent Christmas Evening trying to find a dentist would would be open. Ha, yeah right. I finally called Walgreen's Pharmacy, asking him who they recommended. It just so happened his brother was a dentist nearby! He called him to see what needed to be done. He said there was really nothing they could do right away, but they would be open first thing in the morning. After Josh and I frantically looked through the snow for her tooth, we found out that since it was broke, there was no point in trying to find it.

So the next morning they all got up and went to Dental Depot to get a temporary tooth put on until our dentist got back from Italy and could permanently fix it. When she came back, you couldn't even tell her tooth wasn't real. And the funny thing is, that afternoon when they went to leave again, dad reached down and picked up her broken tooth on the sidewalk! I guess after the snow melted a bit it was easier to see...

It was a very interesting Christmas, to say the least. I finally was able to go home Saturday evening. All in all, we got about 40" of snow. Dad even tried to show Zoie how to make a snow angel. I joked on my facebook that whoever wished for a White Christmas was in trouble, and we needed to talk. :) It turned out to be a good Christmas though. I feel very blessed to have such a wonderful family that I was able to spend Christmas with.

Tuesday Trigger - Moxie Fab World

I made this card for the Tuesday Trigger on the Moxie Fab World Blog. Carolyn King, who is such a sweetie, posted this challenge. Our inspiration was an adorable platter seen below:

I had to brainstorm as to how I wanted to make the tree. I had an idea, but didn't have any chipboard to use. Low and behold, I found a triangle-shaped coaster that I took from a restaurant a year or so ago! It was perfect. I cut it to size, and then I knew I wanted to make my tree ruffly, but wasn't quite sure how. I ended up using my Stampin' Up! border punch, and cutting 1" strips. I then curled them with a pencil, and layered them accordingly up the tree. I then took some Holiday Time trim that I had bought at Wal-Mart years ago, and layered the ribbon under the strips, letting the bead trim hang out.

I had bought some red and white polka-dot Paper Studios paper at Hobby Lobby the other day, as well as some black and white damask. I measured white cardstock to the size of a 5.5" card, and added the dot paper and a strip of the damask. I then found some green ribbon, and some chartreuse, layering them and tieing a bow. I added some twill and a big red button for some pizazz! I then added some Doodlebug Designs curly rub-ons around the edges, and the "celebrate" rub-on that I found in the $ spot at Target. I liked how it turned out. :)

Thanks for looking!

Scrapbook Round Robin Swap

I have been trying to go through some of my stash of scrapbooking supplies and downsize (yes, again.) I have so much stuff that I say, "Someday, I could use this..." Well, time's up and I need to just pass them along to someone else!

I am going to be hosting a round-robin box swap. I am filling a priority mail box full of goodies. I am taking names of those who would like to participate. I will mail it to the first person. They will then have 2-3 days to go through it, and take out what they want, replacing it with items of the same likeness/value. They will then mail it on to the next name.

I have had quite a few people interested so far... so hopefully we can all trade items and find new goodies to use!

I am pretty excited about it. I started pulling things last night. I have stamps, stickers, flowers, embellishments... lots of stuff!

If you are interested in participating, shoot me an email. It should be a lot of fun!

Lucky Me.

While leaving Buffalo Wild Wings with my parents and Zoie, I was about to put Zoie in the car. It was FREEZING outside, and we were all bundled up. I just happened to look down and, low and behold, there was a $20 bill laying on the ground!

It was my lucky day!! I also made it to Wal-Mart and snatched up one of the Wii gaming consoles that they had for 199.99 and a $50 WM gift card. And I didn't have to get up at 7 am and wait in line for an hour. I called the Wal-Mart in the nearby town that doesn't get very much business. I called at like 10:15 or so and they still had at least a dozen. So I got one. :)

Now, do you think Santa will bring me a Wii Fit for Christmas?? That would be nice. ;)
